D’Andrea Fanning is a daughter, sister, auntie, and friend who was raised in Atlanta,
Georgia and now lives in Durham, North Carolina. As a lifelong member of the
Churches of Christ, she has dedicated her life to the service of the Lord’s people,
church, and way. With over 17 years of experience in strategic planning, business
analysis, and process improvement, her career has spanned work with city government,
Fortune 500 corporations, higher education institutions, nonprofits, and churches. She
holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Georgia State University, a Master of
Divinity from Duke Divinity School, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry at
Fuller Theological Seminary. As a theological scholar and practitioner, D’Andrea’s
research explores the intersection of pneumatology (the study of the Holy Spirit), Black
culture, and vocational formation (discipleship and calling).
Over the years, D’Andrea has been called to serve God in various ways: as a speaker,
teacher, administrator, ministry leader, mentor, and sister. She is the co-founder of Black
and Called, LLC. — a platform that offers consulting, coaching, and curated resources
for Black faith leaders, creatives, and entrepreneurs. Most recently, she served full-time
as the Director of Ministry & Nonprofit Development at her local church—Southside
Church of Christ— where she integrated ministry operations with organizational
development. Currently, her work has transitioned into the theological academy, where
she serves as an adjunct professor of Bible at Abilene Christian University; and at Duke
Divinity School, she is a teaching assistant and staff in the Office of Global and
Intercultural Formation.
D’Andrea is especially passionate about journeying with women as they discover who
they are in God and cultivate a deeper sense of holistic spiritual wellness. Outside of
work, she finds joy in traveling, being creative, laughing often, and spending quality time
with loved ones. Her ultimate aim is to live a life poured out before God—and to help
others do the same.
